QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

This is the most popular first aid qualification. The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification (EFAW) is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981.

Description

This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to support individuals carrying out a first aid role in the workplace.

Outcomes / Objectives of the Course:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
  • Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
  • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries

Prerequisites

Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods. 

Attendees will be required to demonstrate First Aid procedures as they would in a real work environment. This includes providing CPR to a casualty who is on the floor, therefore MUST be physically capable of doing so.

Dress Code

Appropriate clothing to complete practical activities.

Materials Required

Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline.

Candidates are required to bring paper and a pen to make notes during their training.

All candidates must bring with them one of the following forms of ID:

  • A valid passport – no more than 6 months out of date
  • A valid UK photo driving license - no more than 6 months out of date
  • A photographic employee ID card 
  • A photographic ID card from an awarding body (e.g. IPAF, RTITB, NPORS)
