New Roads and Street Works Act - Supervisor (NRSWA Units LA, S1 - S5 & S7)
This course is for those employed in monitoring works on the highway who have not worked on the highway before or require re-registration on the SWQR.
Description
This course aims to provide a sound understanding of the techniques used to safely monitor working on the highway. It complies with the mandatory requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- Unit LA - Location and Avoidance of Underground Apparatus.
- Unit S1 - Monitoring Signing, Lighting and Guarding.
- Unit S2 - Monitoring Excavation in the Highway.
- Unit S3 - Monitoring Reinstatement and Compaction of Backfill Materials.
- Unit S4 - Monitoring Reinstatement of Sub-Base and Roadbase in Non-Bituminous Materials.
- Unit S5 - Monitoring Reinstatement in Hot and Cold-Lay Bituminous Materials.
- Unit S7 - Monitoring Reinstatement of Modular Surfaces and Concrete Footways.
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive multiple CABWI Certificates and a Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) Card.

Candidates must bring the following items with them to the course:
- Safety Boots/Suitable Footwear
- High Visibility Vest/Jacket
- Safety Glasses
- Hard Hat
- Gloves
- Overalls/Suitable Workwear
Materials Required
Candidates are required to bring paper and a pen to make notes during their training.
All candidates must bring with them one of the following forms of ID:
- A valid passport – no more than 6 months out of date
- A valid UK photo driving license - no more than 6 months out of date
- A photographic employee ID card
- A photographic ID card from an awarding body (e.g. IPAF, RTITB, NPORS)

Lunch and Refreshments
We have a catering van which visits our premises and there are several other facilities close by where food and drinks can be purchased. A refrigerator and a microwave are available for use in our canteen.
Complimentary hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day. We have a vending machine where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased.
