New Roads and Street Works Act - Monitoring Signing, Lighting and Guarding (NRSWA Unit S1)

This course is for those employed in carrying out work on the highway who have not worked on the highway before or require re-registration on the SWQR.

Description

To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Monitor a work site survey.
  • Monitor the protection of pedestrians, vehicular traffic and site personnel.
  • Monitor the provision of portable traffic signals and Stop/Go traffic control.
  • Monitor site safety.

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive multiple CABWI Certificates and a Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) Card.

Prerequisites

Candidates must be:

  • Physically fit

Exam Information

  • Theoretical training and assessment.
  • Practical training and assessment.

Dress Code

Candidates must bring the following items with them to the course:

  • Safety Boots/Suitable Footwear
  • High Visibility Vest/Jacket
  • Safety Glasses
  • Hard Hat
  • Gloves
  • Overalls/Suitable Workwear

Materials Required

Candidates are required to bring paper and a pen to make notes during their training.

All candidates must bring with them one of the following forms of ID:

  • A valid passport – no more than 6 months out of date
  • A valid UK photo driving license - no more than 6 months out of date
  • A photographic employee ID card 
  • A photographic ID card from an awarding body (e.g. IPAF, RTITB, NPORS)
