CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher (B)

This course refreshes knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

• The Health and Safety at Work Act
• Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations
• Risk assessments/method statements
• Recent changes in accepted working practices
• Behavioural safety
• Management of occupational health
• Electricity
• Excavations
• Working at height
• Scaffolding
• Demolition
• Confined spaces

Candidates must hold an in date SMSTS Novice or SMSTS Refresher certificate and be able to provide evidence of this. Failure to attend the refresher course prior to the expiry of an existing certificate will require candidate to re-enter the scheme by completing the full SMSTS course if they wish to remain in the scheme.

Theoretical training and assessment

None Required.

Candidates must be competent in English at a level required to do their job. 

Any candidate under the age of 18 must complete a parental consent form and return this to us prior to the course start date. 

Candidates should hold or be about to hold the role of a manager. 

Candidates wishing to attend this course must ensure they hold an in date SMSTS (novice) or SMSTS (refresher) certificate and are able to provide a copy of this to the training provider before the course.

All candidates must bring with them one of the following forms of ID:

• An in-date passport
• An in-date UK photo driving license

If this course is eligible for a short course grant, please ensure we have your levy number before the course start date, and your candidates provide their national insurance numbers on the day of the course. Without this information, we cannot claim the levy on your behalf and take no responsibility for the grant not being claimed.
